NHL Trade: Ottawa Trades Mark Stone To Vegas And Will Get An Eight-Year Extension
Mark Stone traded to the Vegas Golden Knights and will be signing an eight year contract extension.

The Ottawa Senators have traded forward Mark Stone to the Vegas Golden Knights for Erik Brannstrom, Oscar Lindberg and a 2020 2nd round pick (Dallas).

The 26-year old Stone was drafted 178th overall in the 6th round of the 2010 draft by the Ottawa Senators.

The 19-year old Brannstrom was drafted 15th overall in the 2017 draft by the Vegas Golden Knights.

The 27-year old Lindberg was drafted 57th overall in the 2010 draft by the Phoenix Coyotes.

Bob McKenzie: Stone’s AAV on an eight-year deal with VGK is $9.5M.

Pierre LeBrun: “I believe he can’t officially sign it until March 1”

Thoughts from the media

Bob McKenzie: “Extension being worked on, pretty obvious that one is coming since there appears to be no conditional picks in the deal from OTT to VGK.”

Jonathan Davis: “Good job by McPhee. Traded prospects for a potential parade. Brannstrom can be a top pairing d-man down the road but worth it for Vegas. Vegas did not have to yield a first”

Chris Peters: “Erik Brannstrom is a special talent who has continued to take positive steps forward in his first season in North America. Vegas has now traded away two of its three first-rounders from its first ever entry draft. Their stockpiling of assets landed them some big fish.”

Scott Wheeler: “Erik Brannstrom is really, really good. He and Chabot at 1LD and 2LD could be electric for the Sens.”

Ryan Kennedy: “Erik Brannstrom is a fantastic rushing defenseman – literally looks like a center the way he handles the puck”

Brian Costello: “Ottawa-bound prospect Brannstrom was No. 24 in Future Watch last year, and sure to be in top 12 this year.”

AJ Haefele: “A future blueline with Chabot and Brannstrom? Holy smokes that’s going to be fun to watch”
