Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: No exact time frame is set for Tomas Kaberle and the Bruins to talk contract, but they did talk to say that they will discuss in the future. Yzerman and Stamkos’s agent talked last weekend, doesn’t sound like they are close yet. The Maple Leafs and James Reimer will talk after the season, he’s a RFA. The Senators and Craig Anderson are expected to hold contract talks in the next couple weeks. In 2016-17 the Maple Leafs organization will be 100 years old. They’d possibly like to hold the All-Star game, NHL draft and an outdoor game at BMO field.
Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun: The New York Rangers were the only team that Brad Richards was willing to waive his no-trade clause for at the deadline last week, but the 2 sides couldn’t get a deal done. The Stars and Richards couldn’t work out the length of a possible extension, and never really got around to discussing money. Richards’ agent could have been looking for a deal in the 7-10 year range. If he is looking for a deal in that length, don’t expect it to come from the Maple Leafs on July 1st as Burke doesn’t hand out contracts that long. Ilya Bryzgalov (Phoenix), Tomas Vokoun (Florida) and Craig Anderson (Ottawa) are the top free agent goalies this year, and all are hoping to sign an extension with their current team. Anderson could be signing a 3 year, $3.5 million deal with the Senators. Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson’s job could be in question after another season of not making the playoffs. Senators coach Cory Clouston likely won’t be coaching the Senators next season. The Rangers did look at adding Filip Kuba at the deadline but didn’t like the fact that he had another year on his contract, which is why the went with McCabe. Peter DeBoer likely won’t be behind the bench in Florida next season. Nik Antropov gave a 5 team list to GM Rick Dudley before the deadline but couldn’t get anything done. Antropov has 2 more years $4.062 million cap hit. Pascal Leclaire’s career could be over.
