On Alexander Semin …

  • Renaud Lavoie: Alexander Semin is trying to find a KHL team over the next few days. Not sure that he’ll report to the AHL.
  • Slava Malamud: There has been no KHL interest in Semin so far. CSKA could be a possibility, with Sergei Federov as the team GM.
  • Arpon Basu: Canadiens coach Michel Therrien said that Semin was not able to adapt to the Canadiens style of play. He wouldn’t elaborate further. Therrien assumed that Semin would report to the AHL.

On the Flyers and Vincent Lecavalier …

  • Dave Isaac of the Courier-Post: Vincent Lecavalier was at the arena yesterday, working out and getting some treatment on his back. The team said he missed practice as it was a recovery day for him. Lecavalier has been a healthy scratch for the past 12 games, with injury call-ups getting into lineup over him.

“I don’t know what to say, man. It is what it is,” a frustrated Lecavalier said as he left the building following his workout. “Obviously I’m not getting in the lineup, and I don’t know what to say anymore. I’m not going to come to the rink pissed off. I’m still going to try to come and get better. I don’t know. Wherever I get my opportunity I just want to be in shape if that happens.”

Both sides would like to go their separate ways, but it doesn’t look like that will happen anytime soon. Lecavalier is in the third year of a five year, $22.5 million deal. It’s nearly impossible to trade his $4.5 million cap hit.

Reports are that the Predators ownership has nixed two trades involving Lecavalier as they are still upset with the Flyers offer sheeting Shea Weber in 2012.

On the Nashville Predators …

  • Adam Vingan of The Tennessean: Predators prospect Jimmy Vesey is in his last year at Havard and remains unsigned. There are rumors that if he becomes a free agent, he could end up in Toronto where his dad is an amateur scout. Vesey did say on Monday that he remains loyal to the Predators.

“Yeah, I still have a great relationship with the team,” he said. “Development coach Scott Nichol and the Nashville scouts have been at my games and getting my game tapes and sending me feedback. I still have a great relationship with them. My dad’s a scout for the Leafs, but I wouldn’t read too much into that.”
