Rumors and Notes: Buyout Window, Wings, Ducks, Stars and Devils
  • Chris Johnston: The Maple Leafs, Senators and Wild have a second window to buyout a player. The 48-hour window opens on Wednesday.
  • Igor Eronko: Red Wings prospect Alexei Marchenko said that he doesn’t think about the KHL and his plan is to make the Red Wings. He would also like to see more Russians in Detroit.
  • Igor Eronko: Former Ducks goaltender Igor Bobkov will be signing with Admiral of the KHL according to his agent.
  • Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News: (chat) Stars 2015 first round pick Denis Gurianov has two years left on his KHL deal, but Heika thinks they will look to bring him over in a year if that is what they think will be best for all sides.Heika doesn’t think that Radek Faksa has a shot at making the Stars this year. Injuries have stalled his development, and he could use another season in the AHL. He could get a look as an injury fill in.
  • Tom Gulitti of The Record: Bryce Salvador said that he met with GM Ray Shero last week, but added that their was still “nothing new to report” on if he’ll play this year or not. Salvador missed the 67 games last year due to a bulging disc and nerve damage in his back. Salvador said there would be an update in a few weeks. Salvador is a UFA, and the Devils may be interested in bringing his leadership back.

“He has to be healthy enough to try to continue his career. That’s No. 1,” Shero said.

  • Rich Chere of NJ.com: Devils GM Ray Shero thinks that 2015 first round pick Pavel Zacha has a really good chance of playing in the NHL this season, they just have to have him signed by August 15th.

“I’m going to work on it this week. I believe, hopefully, we’ll get it done,” Shero told NJ Advance Media Monday. “This is all bonus-related with these top players.”

The sides are still negotiating over “A” bonuses, something the Devils didn’t do under Lou Lamoriello.

“It’s a no brainer if you look at the top picks in the draft every year. They get the max (in salary). The bonuses are what change for each player,” Stefan said Monday.

“It’s a little unique situation when you look at New Jersey because the Devils haven’t given out any bonuses, I believe, ever. Maybe people look at it as a slam dunk that should have been done two days after the draft, but every negotiation is unique in some ways.”
