Rumors and Video: Canucks, Bruins and Oilers
  • Ed Willis of the Vancouver Province: The Canucks have three pending UFAs in Derek Dorsett, Brad Richardson and Shawn Matthias.  “But with all due respect to Richardson and Matthias, you can find what they offer in a variety of places.” Dorsett brings a physicality night in and night out that sets him apart. Will the Canucks look to bring him back? Similar players like Canadiens Brandon Prust and Stars Antoine Rousell are in the $2 to $2.5 million price range, and that shouldn’t be an issue. Dorsett loves Vancouver but added:

“It’s not just about me (Dorsett became a first-time father earlier this season). If there’s something long-term, that’s great. I guess we’ll have to look at the situation when it’s presented.”

  • Hope Smoke: Canucks Shawn Matthias is a big bodied pending UFA that has scored 17 goals this year. Dan Murphy: There haven’t been any talks with the Canucks. Guessing that he’ll be looking for a deal somewhere between Cam Atkinson and Mats Zucarello ($3.5 million and $4.5 million).
  • News 1130 Sports: The Canucks still haven’t signed 2010 4th round pick Patrick McNally. McNally will talk to his agent about the Canucks after his college season is over. If he doesn’t sign this summer he’ll become a UFA. He wouldn’t talk about the leg injury he suffered this year that almost ended his season.
  • Joe Haggerty of CSNNE: Haggerty and Mike Giardi talking about what might happen to the Bruins this offseason if they don’t make the playoffs.

“There are major implications if the Bruins don’t make the playoffs,” Haggerty said. “Loui Eriksson could be gone, Milan Lucic could be gone. There are a lot of players on this year’s team that have been part of the picture that will be gone after the season is over.

“You may have already seen the best of Milan Lucic. I would love to see the Bruins and the Oilers revisit a Milan Lucic-Taylor Hall deal.”
