Rumors I: Blue Jackets, Jets and Flyers
  • Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch: Blue Jackets 2012 2nd round pick Oscar Dansk is heading to over to Sweden and will sign with Rogle for next season.

“We wanted to make sure he gets to a place where he can play and get his career back on track,” Kekalainen said. “You can’t have three guys at the AHL level, and we’ve got Anton Forsberg and Joonas Korpisalo playing there next season.

“So, instead of (Dansk) ending up in the Coast (East Coast Hockey League), it’s good that he goes to a good team with a good goalie coach.”

He will burn the second year of his entry-level contract next season even though he won’t be paid by the Blue Jackets.

GM Jarmo Kekalainen said they are still uncertain about signing 2013 7th round pick Peter Quenneville. He’ll go back into the draft if he isn’t signed by June 1st. The Blue Jackets have until Aug. 15th to sign forward Seth Ambroz or he will become a UFA. Ambroz finished his fourth year at the University of Minnesota.

  • Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun: Signs are pointing to Alex Burmistrov returning to the NHL next season – will it be with the Jets or with someone else? Burmistrov’s two-year deal with Ak-Bars Kazan of the KHL has expired. He left the Jets two-years ago as he was unhappy with his role under then head coach Claude Noel. It was Evgeni Medvedev, a recent Flyer signing, who broke the story saying that Burmistrov “will also leave the KHL for Canada.” Burmistrov is a RFA and if they can’t get a deal done, he could be moved.
  • Philadelphia Flyers: Flyers GM Ron Hextall on where recently signed 32-year old defenseman Evgeni Medvedev might fit in their lineup.

“Does he have the ability to be in the top four ? Yes, he does. Now, how quickly he makes the transition to the smaller ice and the North American game, that’s going to dictate whether he gets into our Top Four or not, but he certainly has the capability.”

Hextall expects that Michael Del Zotto will be on their roster next season and initial contract talks have taken place. They are going to have to move some people out on their blueline.

“We’re going to have to look into something, you mentioned that we have a logjam, and we’re going to have to look to move somebody. Obviously Evgeni we felt that it was a real solid upgrade for us on defense so it was something that we couldn’t go by, but yes something will have to give here.”
