Rumors I: Jets-Sabres Fallout, Capitals and Canucks
  • AJ Jakubec: Not a surprise that the Sabres traded Brendan Lemieux as his agent told the Sabres that he wasn’t going to be signing with them.
  • John Vogl: GM Tim Murray on Lemieux:  “We tried to sign him earlier this year, but we couldn’t come to an agreement. That had nothing to do with trading him.”
  • Buffalo Sabres: GM Murray said that there are no untouchables, but there are some players that he’d rather not trade, including: Zemgus Girgensons, Rasmus Ristolainen and Nikita Zadorov.
  • Mike Harrington: The Sabres could always sign Jhonas Enroth in the summer. He’ll be a backup in Dallas and he doesn’t want that. Sabres GM Tim Murray said he is uncertain if they would pursue Enroth this offseason.
  • Mike Morreale: Murray will listen to anyone else that calls. Wouldn’t be shocked if they made more trades.
  • Ken Wiebe: Think the Jets would like to add a 3rd or 4th liner before the deadline. Could use a bit more depth up front.
  • Stephen Whyno: The Jets could use the assets they acquired yesterday (Joel Armia, Brendan Lemieux and 1st round pick) in a deal before the deadline.
  • Ted Wyman: Can’t image that the Jets are done. They still have too many defenseman and could use another winger.
  • David Pagnotta: The Jets like the idea of keeping Drew Stafford beyond this season. He’ll be a UFA at the end of the season.
  • Ken Wiebe: Head coach Paul Maurice said that Dustin Byfuglien will go back to the blueline full-time today.
  • Ken Wiebe: Been saying for a while that a team like the Sabres could view Jets defenseman Paul Postma as an upgrade to their blueline.
  • Pierre LeBrun: The Capitals also made a push of Evander Kane. They have been interested in him for awhile.
  • Pierre LeBrun: Don’t think the Canucks would include Jake Virtanen or Bo Horvat in their offer to the Jets for Kane. They made an offer with other players.
