Rumors II: Isles, Hurricanes, Canadiens, Wild and Blues
Senators put Coburn on waivers. List of players who are on the NHL's COVID Protocol Absence list. Four Wild games postponed.

On the Islanders, Hurricanes and Canadiens …

  • Sportsnet’s ‘Headlines’ with Damien Cox and Elliotte Friedman: The Red Wings, Ducks and Kings talked to the Islanders about Travis Hamonic, but were told that they were not a fit.
  • Friedman adds that some people think that it might take a three team trade for the Islanders to move Hamonic.
  • Cox says that Hurricanes could decide on which way they will go with Eric Staal by the end of this month.
  • Friedman says the Canadiens are trying to make a move.

On the Wild …

  • Michael Russo of the Star-Tribune: Travis Hamonic has expanded his trade list to include the Wild and Avalanche according to sources. A Wild source has confirmed that the Wild and Islanders have spoken. Wild GM Chuck Fletcher hasn’t spoken with Hamonic’s agent yet. Fletcher may be more inclined to add a forward through a trade.
  • The cost to acquire Hamonic is high, including a top-four defenseman. The Wild are also already at the salary cap ceiling.
  • Jared Spurgeon was drafted by the Islanders and has a year left on his deal. He’ll be a UFA in two years.
  • Jonas Brodin is in the first year of his six year deal – a $4.16 million cap hit. Brodin might make the most sense.

On the Blues …

  • Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post Dispatch: (chat) Rutherford thinks that Blues are looking at some potential trade options, but they are not desperate, especially with Paul Stastny getting closer to returning from his broken foot.
  • Rutherford can’t think of any long-term holes that the Blues need to fill. When Stastny, Jaden Schwartz and Patrik Berglund all return, they will have some excess forwards and could make a move then if need be.
  • Have spoken with Brian Elliott in the past about asking for a trade, and he’s said he’s said he’s not that type of person. Some fans suggest they should trade him, but what happens if Jake Allen gets hurt and they have to turn to the minors?

On the Avalanche …

  • Adrian Dater: There is zero chance that the Avalanche would fire Patrick Roy this season.
