Rumors II: Leafs, Hurricanes, Rangers, Blue Jackets and Canadiens
  • The Leafs 2014 Draft Video: The Maple Leafs were offered the 21st, 33rd and 52nd pick for their 8th overall pick at the 2014 draft. The picks ended up being: #21 (Fabbri), #33 (Barbashev) & #52 (Letunov) for #8 (Nylander).
  • Kurt Dusterberg of NHL.com: Hurricanes Cam Ward and Ron Francis talk about this offseason.

“To be honest, at the start of the summer I didn’t think I was coming back,” Ward said. “I respect Ron for being honest with me all summer long and telling me how it is. It was going in the direction that I wasn’t going to be here.”

“We did have that conversation, absolutely,” Francis said. “We talked that that was a possibility going into the start of the summer.”

“Quite frankly you look at what you will get back in return,” Francis said. “If you make a trade and you don’t get something back that makes you better, it isn’t good to make that deal. We looked at a lot of different things.”

  • Steve Zipay: Rangers RFA defenseman John Moore said there has been a lot of movement regarding contract talks in the past week and is optimistic that a deal will get done by training camp.
  • Aaron Portzline: (answering question) It seems very unlikely that Ryan Johansen will be signed before the start of training camp.
  • Lance Hornby: The Maple Leafs are considering a PTO for defenseman Brendan Mikkelson.
  • Josh Rimer: As of now there is no truth to the rumor that Dustin Penner is going the Canadiens camp on a PTO.
  • Damien Cox: Despite not having a new CBA for the officials, not sounding like there is a real threat of a work stoppage.
