Rumors II: Wild, Hurricanes, Kings, Senators and Babcock
  • The Fourth Period: Wild GM Chuck Fletcher is still looking for goaltending help and he could extend his search to the Eastern Conference. The Wild could consider Maple Leafs James Reimer, who has one-year left on his deal. The Wild are eight points out, but still want to make a playoff push. The Wild have also been linked to Cam Ward, who has a no-trade clause.
  • Chip Alexander: Hurricanes GM Ron Francis on the trade deadline: “We’ll continue to analyze everything and make decisions.”
  • David Pagnotta: There have been lots of reports that the Kings need to include Tyler Toffoli or Tanner Pearson in a Mike Richards trade … Kings GM Dean Lombardi isn’t considering doing that.
  • Bruce Garrioch: Teams could still trade for Senators Colin Greening. The Senators may be willing to retain a portion of his salary for this year, but they won’t for the final two years.
  • Dennis Bernstein: Non-regular scouts at the Kings-Blackhawks game: Penguins, Jets, Capitals and Leafs.
  • Tom Gulitti: 15 different teams were scouting the Maple Leafs-Devils last night, including Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff. Terry Koshan: 17 scouts were on hand. Tom Gulitti: There were only three games last night and only one in the East, so that is part of the reason for the high number.
  • Sportsnet Nick Kypreos and Doug MacLean saying it’s more than likely that Mike Babcock is more than likely to re-sign with the Red Wings after the season.
