Steve Simmons: Dave Nonis is expected to take a senior advisor’s role with the Ducks after July 1st. The Ducks can’t talk to him before then. Nonis has worked with Ducks GM Bob Murray in Anaheim and in Vancouver.
Steve Simmons: The Maple Leafs are not shopping Jonathan Bernier. They have received some calls on him, but unless they are blown away, they won’t move him.
Dennis Bernstein: Jarret Stoll may be stuck with signing a one-year, $1 million contract given his issues. He’s only 32, and was a leader in the room. Due to his felony charge, may not be a lot of GM’s lining up to sign him.
Brian Hedger: Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman isn’t trading Corey Crawford.
Aaron Portzline: Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen admitted they lack on prospect defensemen, especially now with Mike Reilly signing elsewhere. They will use their eighth overall pick on the best player available. Kekalainen: “If all things are equal, maybe we choose a D. But we are going to take the best player. We have a list. We’ve spent a lot of time putting it together, and we’re going to stick to it.”
Aaron Portzline: The Blue Jackets have had talks about moving up in the draft, but teams are just sniffing around. The first two picks are obviously not being moved.
Aaron Portzline: If the Blackhawks decide to trade defenseman David Rundblad, believed the Blue Jackets would be very interested.
Adrian Dater: (answering question) With only a year left on his deal before he becomes a UFA, it’s going to tough for the Avs to get a whole lot for Ryan O’Reilly.
