Rumors IV: Buyout Candidates, Williams, Flyers and Rozsival
  • Lyle Richardson of Bleacher Report: Top 10 players that are most likely be bought out this summer: 1. Mike Richards (LA) 2. Cody Hodgson (BUF) 3. Niklas Backstrom (MIN) 4. Colin Greening (OTT) 5. Viktor Stalberg (NSH) 6. R.J. Umberger (PHI) 7. Stephen Weiss (DET) 8. Vincent Lecavalier (PHI) 9. Ondrej Pavelec (WPG) 10. Alexander Semin (CAR)
  • Dave Isaac of the Courier Post: Isaac thinks Justin Williams might make sense for the Flyers this offseason if he doesn’t re-sign with the Kings. Williams started with the Flyers, met his wife there, and still has a home in the area. Williams plays on the right side, the Flyers could use a left winger, but he could probably make a smooth transition to the left side. Adding a scoring winger could be one of the Flyers offseason priorities, but…

“It’s a little premature,” said Hextall, who was the assistant GM in Los Angeles for seven seasons. “We’re in the midst of this season right now. Along the way I have my thoughts, but we have some work to do here to figure out where we need to improve and stuff. We’re not there yet.”

Williams isn’t thinking about his pending free agency just yet.

“Not right now, no. Absolutely not,” Williams said. “I’ve got a big focus on trying to get this team to the playoffs. That’s the only thing on my mind right now, for sure.”

  • Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times: 36-year old Blackhawks defenseman Michal Rozsival on his future.

“I’m 36 years old, man, why would I worry about it?” he said with a laugh. “I’m at a stage of my career where I love playing this game. I really enjoy it, I’ve enjoyed being here, and I like to win. But to be worrying about what’s going to happen next year, nah, I never think like that. Never in my career. For some reason, things just work out somehow, in some magic way. So I don’t really worry about it. I worry about my game, how I am performing on the ice and how the team is doing.

“I’ve been through it all, so I just want to have fun with it. That’s why I’m here, and that’s why I’ve played this game for all these years. It’s just fun.”
