Rumors IV: Trade Talks Involving Evander Kane Heating Up

Updated … 11:10 am

Darren Dreger: “Huge deal. Hearing Myers Stafford Armia and Lemieux plus a first for Kane and Bogosian as principles of deal getting close btwn Buf + Wpg.”

11:05 am

Gary Lawless: Doesn’t sound like the Canucks are going to step to the plate for Kane. Teams saying it’s the Sabres.

Gary Lawless: Hearing the deal they are working on is multi-player for both the Jets and Sabres.

Jason Brough: “If Myers going to Jets, gotta be a d-man going back to Buffalo. Or Byfuglien’s gonna freak.”

10:55 am

Bob McKenzie: The Jets have been in talks with other teams including the Canucks and Canadiens. If a Sabres-Jets trade gets done, it may be bigger than just Kane.

Pierre LeBrun: The Canucks would like Kane, but they are in a playoff race.

Gary Lawless: Hearing the Capitals are interested as well. Would be interesting to see what kind of package they could put together.

Darren Dreger: Until a trade agreement has been made, the Jets will continue to talk to other teams. Sense is that the Sabres are getting closer though.

Gary Lawless: Kane does not have no-movement clause, so he has no say on the process.

Nick Cotsonika: “If you’re the Sabres and Coyotes, it would be smart to try to land Kane now before other teams can get into fray in the summer.”

10:40 am:

Pierre LeBrun: Source saying the Sabres and Jets are in “serious” talks, but it’s not definite that a deal gets done.

Mike Harrington: Jets scout Peter Ratchuk is a regular at Sabres games, but Jets Pro Scouting Director Mark Dobson has been showing up lately.

David Pagnotta: The Coyotes are also strongly interested in Kane, and may be working towards getting something done by the trade deadline as opposed to the offseason. The Coyotes may not be able to match the offer the Sabres can put together, but they are seriously interested.

Gary Lawless: Don’t be surprised if the Coyotes get in the mix with news that the Sabres are talking to the Jets.

10:30 am:

Darren Dreger: The Sabres and Jets are in trade discussions about Evander Kane. A deal is not done, but things are heating up.

Bob McKenzie: The Sabres have the assets. They have the Blues and Islanders first round picks, prospects like Joel Armia, rental wingers like Chris Stewart and Drew Stafford, plus more.

Bob McKenzie: If the Sabres put Tyler Myers into the equation, it could get very interesting in Winnipeg. The Sabres are aggressively pursuing.

Joe Yerdon: Have said in the past that trading Myers would be a mistake unless they got something dynamic in return. Kane would be a dynamic player.

Damien Cox: The Sabres giving up multiple pieces to trade for Kane would almost guarantee the Sabres one of Connor McDavid or Jack Eichel.

Damien Cox: Would think the Jets would rather send Kane to the East. Don’t need to see him coming back to Winnipeg and beating them regularly.
