Rumors V: Free Agent Notes – Sharks, Capitals and Canucks
  • Dhiren Mahiban of Pro Hockey Talk: The Sharks and RFA defenseman Brenden Dillon are working on a new contract that could be done in the next few weeks.

    “My kind of gut feel is that it should get done within the next little while, next few weeks,” Dillon’s agent Jarrett Bousquet told PHT. “I don’t see it dragging on any further.

    “I think both sides feel that talks have been good and should be able to get something done.”

    The sides are working on a long-term deal.

    “Long term for a young defenseman between probably 4-6 years, somewhere in there, 3-6 years somewhere,” said Bousquet.

  • Chuck Gormley of CSN Washington: It’s looking like Capitals pending UFAs Mike Green and Joel Ward will be moving on, and Jay Beagle and Eric Fehr could be re-signing.The 34-year old Ward is looking for a four-year deal, with the Capitals preferring a two-year deal.

    The 29-year old Green is could get at least the same term and money as his previous deal – three-years at $18.25 million.

    GM Brian MacLellan told Elliotte Friedman that he is “trying to close” deals for Beagle and Fehr.
