Rumors VII: Flyers, Oilers, Blues, Bruins, Habs, Devils, Blues and Stars
  • Frank Seravalli of the Philadelphia Daily News: The Flyers still have eight defenseman left on their roster, with six under contract for next year and RFA Michael Del Zotto. So the Flyers are not done dealing.

“There’s some things we’ve got to flush out here,” Hextall said when asked about more trades moving forward. “There’s one game left for us and other teams have to play. We’ll see. I don’t have the answer for you. There’s a lot of things that come into play here.”

The Flyers talked to a number of teams about Kimmo Timonen, so you can probably assume the might be interested in Braydon Coburn or Nicklas Grossmann or Luke Schenn.

“There’s a certain price where you’ll take a look at different things,” Hextall admitted. “It’s an active time of year. It’s a time of year where you have to listen, you have to assess anything that’s thrown at your way. Look at today, look at tomorrow and make hard decisions. It’s an intense time of year for us.”

  • The Fourth Period: The Flyers could move at least one defenseman by the deadline, with Braydon Coburn being the primary target.

“There’s some things we’ve got to flush out here,” Hextall told the Daily News. “There’s one game left for us and other teams have to play. We’ll see. I don’t have the answer for you. There’s a lot of things that come into play here.”

They’ve been getting calls for Nicklas Grossmann, Luke Schenn and Mark Streit.

  • John Shannon: The Blues and Bruins are said to be in on Oilers Jeff Petry.
  • Ryan Rishaug: The Blues have made eight 2nd round picks in the past four years. Believe that Oilers GM Craig MacTavish wants the principle return for Petry to be a player and not a pick.
  • Pierre LeBrun: The Canadiens are among the teams that have spoken with the Oilers about Petry.
  • Rich Chere: Devils Scott Gomez on a potential trade: “I don’t have a no trade. I’m not going to even waste energy on that.”‘
  • Renaud Lavoie: Devils Martin Havlat could be traded. Was a healthy scratch last night.
  • Andy Strickland: Talks is still that the Sabres are looking for a 2nd round pick and high-end prospect for Chris Stewart.
  • Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun: Unless he gets an offer he can’t refuse, Senators GM Bryan Murray may not trade Erik Condra. Condra has emerged as an important player on the fourth line.
