Rumors VIII: Kings, Avs, Bruins, Sens, Wild, Leafs, Rangers and Canucks
  • Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun: Martin Jones isn’t being shopped by they Kings, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be traded. Some think he could be a starter. The Kings will listen to offers to see what they might be able to get for him.Teams are still calling the Avalanche about Ryan O’Reilly. The Avs would still like to sign him.

Bruins GM Don Sweeney would like to make at least one big move, and they are listening to what teams might give up for Milan Lucic. The price to acquire him will be big, and the Bruins are not interested in retaining salary. He’ll be a UFA after next season which makes it a little more difficult.

The Coyotes could be willing to trade the No. 3 pick and they have plenty of cap space.

The Senators expect to go to arbitration with Mike Hoffman and Alex Chiasson at this point. They are still deciding on UFA Erik Condra.

Devan Dubnyk basically said that salary cap issues for the Wild is part of the reason he hasn’t signed a contract extension already.

Have to think the Sharks are one of the teams that will reach out to Dubnyk. The Sharks haven’t closed the door on Antti Niemi, though thinking is he’ll be with another team next year.

Teams will be watching the Maple Leafs, Phil Kessel and Dion Phaneuf. A league executive thinks the Sharks, Hurricanes and Predators should be looking at the possibility of trading for Kessel. The Hurricanes would have to move salary if they were to make a deal.

“There’d be a lot more teams that would be willing to take (Kessel) if they were paying him $6 million rather than $8 million,” said the executive.

  • Joe Haggerty of CSNNE: Bruins GM Don Sweeney.

“We’ve had a lot of good talks with teams, and I think everybody’s doing the same thing in terms of seeing what player movement may or may not be available and what draft positions are up for grabs, or jockeying may exist,” said Sweeney last week on a conference call. “I think everybody is sort of in the same boat, and taking inventory at this point in time.

“ not necessarily going to comment on whether things are close or far away, but just that I have had a lot of conversations,” he said.

Bruins players that could be in play: Loui Eriksson, Chris Kelly, Dennis Seidenberg, and Milan Lucic.

Some talk that the Rangers and Bruins were talking a Milan Lucic for Keith Yandle trade. Yandle has been link to the Bruins for years as he’s from Milton, Mass.

EPSN’s John Buccigross speculated that maybe the Lucic to the Canucks could be an option. Alex Edler is a name that has been linked to the Bruins in the past. The Bruins could look at Dan Hamhuis or Kevin Bieksa. Lucic is from BC.
