Rumors: Ducks, Byfuglien, Governors meeting, Leafs

On the Ducks ….

  • Craig Custance of ESPN: (mailbag) Wouldn’t rule out that the Ducks trade Frederik Andersen. John Gibson is their No. 1 goalie of the future, and he could be ready for that soon. Andersen is a restricted free agent and contract talks have been quiet. The preference may be to trade backup Anton Khudobin ($2.25 million), but there isn’t a big market for him.
  • Ryan Johansen, Matt Duchene, Jordan Eberle and Travis Hamonic are all in the rumor mill, but because of the salary cap and internal budgets, trading is basically impossible at moment. Of the four, Hamonic is the most likely to be dealt, and GM Garth Snow wants a ton for him.
  • Custance thinks that Dustin Byfuglien will be the first big name to be moved.

On the Board of Governors meeting…

  • Darren Dreger of TSN: The Board of Governors will meet next week… compensation policy for coaches, executives, and team personnel will be among topics discussed… NHL expansion talk is also on the agenda.
  • Pierre LeBrum on Twitter: “Expansion talk, salary cap projection, executive/coach compensation rule, concussion protocol, among many items owners will hear about.”

On the Tampa Bay Lightning

On the Toronto Maple Leafs

  • Darren Dreger: Toronto Maple Leafs recall goaltender Bibeau, James Reimer listed day-to-day. Bibeau and Sparks will handle the goaltending in Toronto.
  • AHL Communications: Jonathan Bernier made 22 saves to earn a shutout with the Toronto Marlies.
