Rumors II: Ducks, Sabres, Flyers, Sens, Leafs, Bruins and Preds
  • Eric Stephens of OC Register: Trade rumors are circling the Ducks, with talk of Sabres Tyler Myers. Myers is under contract until 2019, and would be a more of a long-term solution compared to potential rentals in Cody Franson, Jeff Petry, Marc Methot or Andrej Sekera. Ducks GM Bob Murray is scouting in Europe. Hampus Lindholm or Sami Vatanen wouldn’t be apart of any Myers deal. The Ducks denied Renaud Lavoie’s report of Cam Fowler. Stephens wonders if Shea Theodore and one of their young forwards or their first round pick would be in play.
  • Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer: Both Braydon Coburn and Kimmo Timonen are getting healthy and when they return, the Flyers should look to trade them. The Kings, Blues and Islanders are reportedly looking for help on the blueline. Maybe the Predators or Panthers come calling. They could probably get a second round pick for Coburn, who has one year left on his deal at a $4.5 million cap hit. Timonen will be retiring at the end of the year and they could get a fourth or fifth round pick.
  • Bruce Garrioch: If the Senators were looking to make big roster changes, there probably would be more than two scouts at their game last night. Both of the scouts are regulars at Sens games.
  • Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun: It would appear that the Leafs would like to make moves now instead of waiting to the deadline. Tyler Bozak is the latest Leaf to join the rumor mill. David Clarkson was a healthy scratch last night.
  • Arthur Staple: Coyotes GM Don Maloney was at the Bruins-Islanders game last night.
  • Mark Divver: Hearing that the Bruins got calls on their 2013 3rd round pick Peter Cehlarik after a strong World Junior Championship. Could be be a trade chip at the deadline.
  • Mark Divver: The Bruins have interest in NCAA free agents: Casey Bailey (Penn State), Kyle Baun (Colgate) and Cole Bardreau (Cornell).
  • Andy Strickland: The Predators are expected to aggressively go after Senators Chris Neil.
  • Andy Strickland: The Rangers are on Chris Neil’s no trade list, won’t end up there.
