The Detroit Red Wings have some prospects that they could package to make a big swing at someone
Daily Faceoff: Max Bultman on if the Detroit Red Wings have some prospects they could look at moving to help improve their roster for next season.
Tyler Yaremchuk: “Who do you think are the young pieces that he would be willing to dangle in a deal?”
Bultman: “I look at places where they kind of have duplicate prospects. I don’t know if that’s.. I’m not trying to be disparaging when I say that, just guys who kind of fit the same future role.
Dylan Larkin Rumors: The Stars May Not Make Sense, and Mock Trades
So, like, you have Marco Kasper. I think Nate Danielson probably plays a pretty similar role to Marco Kasper. So maybe that makes Nate Danielson kind of a natural candidate. Top 10 pick, center, six-two, right shot with skill. Usually that’s going to have some value. I’m sure they’d like to keep Nate Danielson and develop him.
But to your point, like there’s always a cost if you want to take a big swing. They got a lot of goalie prospects. I don’t know where the stock is at right now, league-wide, on Sebastian Cossa. Obviously, it’s not like other teams aren’t going to have noticed that he didn’t start in the playoffs for them. Two-time AHL all-star guy who’s right on the door of NHL readiness. So that’s another guy who I think you could look at.
Would it shock me if they traded a D? I mean, they have a couple of right-shot D coming. Axel Sandin Pellikka played a lot of games this year. They also have Anton Johansen, who I’m very impressed by. Just got to Grand Rapids at the end of the season. Six-four skates well, got a little edge to his game.
And then there’s obviously, like, you know, players off the roster too, and picks, and all that stuff. So they got a little more aggressive this year at the trade deadline when they traded for (Justin) Faulk, traded their first round pick. You can hindsight that deal and look at it either way. I think you can make good cases.

But they have been accumulating assets, and they have the ability to, you know, clump some of them together and make a push for a big name or someone that they think is really going to move the needle.
