The first round of GM interviews is done in Vancouver, some of the candidates are…
Thomas Drance: Have heard the Vancouver Canucks have finished their first round of interviews and will begin shortening their list in the next 48 hours.
Sportsnet: The Vancouver Canucks are looking at Maple Leafs assistant GM Shane Doan, former Buffalo Sabres GM Kevyn Adams, Canucks assistant GM Ryan Johnson, longtime NHLer Ray Whitney and Edmonton Oilers assistant GM Bill Scott.
Friedman said that the Canucks are also considering five other candidates. Some have a B.C. connection, which is something they may look at.

Iain MacIntyre of Sportsnet: Current president Jim Rutherford and managing owner Francesco Aquilini are expected to interview up to 15 candidates. Ryan Johnson is a top candidate for Rutherford’s and he negotiated into Johnson contract that the Canucks have an exclusive window and he can’t interview with other teams.
Some candidates include Kevyn Adams, Marc Bergevin, Brad Treliving and Rob Blake. The Canucks asked the Maple Leafs to speak with Shane Doan. If someone like Adams or Bergevin, and with Rutherford leaving soon, that is where Doan could come in.
Luke Fox of Sportsnet: The Maple Leafs, Shane Doan, had been bridging the gap between some younger players like Matthew Knies and Nick Robertson, and management.
Sekeres and Price: Patrick Johnston says that the Vancouver Canucks GM position is a complicated work scenario.
“I think the question then becomes, if they can’t find someone to take the job, I don’t want to be in Ryan Johnson’s position in that case. Because then you’re sort of this, oh, this default guy.
It is a complicated to put it kindly, work scenario. So how does that influence people that are interested? And I think you’re exactly right, Matt, like, Who’s who wants to come now?

I was joking around with someone else, and they were saying, ‘Man, it sounds like half the league’s interest this job.’ I’m like, a certain level, of course they are, because it’s one of 32 jobs, right? And you come up to the window and you start talking, right? Like, people interview for jobs, and then they don’t necessarily have to take them.”
