Trade: Hurricanes Send Jiri Tlusty to the Jets

The Carolina Hurricanes have traded forward Jiri Tlusty to the Winnipeg Jets for a 2016 3rd round pick and a conditional 2015 6th round pick.

The 26-year old pending UFA was draft 13th overall in the 2006 draft by the Maple Leafs. Tlusty carries a $2.95 million cap hit.

Chip Alexander: Tlusty: “If I fit in their plan and they try to come back to me July 1, I will have interest in talking to Carolina.”

Patrick Williams: Jets coach Paul Maurice coached Tlusty for one year in Toronto and three in Carolina.

Thomas Drance: “Tlusty is competent and nothing more. High leverage add for a Jets team that’s lost three of their four best wingers this month though.”

Ken Wiebe: “Interested to see if the addition of Jiri Tlusty allows Dustin Byfuglien to move back to the blue line on Thursday vs Blues”
