The Dallas Stars have traded Erik Cole and a conditional 2015 3rd round pick to the Red Wings for Mattias Backman, Mattias Janmark and a 2015 2nd round pick.
The 36-year old Cole was drafted 71st overall in the 3rd round of the 1998 draft by the Hurricanes.
The 22-year old Backman was drafted 146th overall in the 5th round of the 2011 draft by the Wings.
The 22-year old Janmark was drafted 79th overall in the 3rd round of the 2013 draft by the Wings.
Elliotte Friedman: If the Red Wings make it to the 3rd round, the Stars get the third round pick back.
