NHL power rankings – the Stars sit atop our consensus NHL power rankings

After being tied for top spot with the New York Rangers last week, the Dallas Stars sit alone on top this week in our weekly consensus NHL power rankings. Four of eight media outlets had the Stars ranked first, with three having the Washington Capitals at No. 1.

The Rangers, who were tied for first last week, dropped down to fifth. The Montreal Canadiens held steady at No. 3, but they’ll be in tough without Carey Price and Brendan Gallagher. The St. Louis Blues moved up one spot to No. 4.

Since we had 8 entries in this weeks NHL power rankings, we’ve dropped the highest and lowest totals for each team.

To get our consensus point total, we awarded the top team 30 points, the second team 29 points, third team 28 points, etc. Added each teams total points and divided by the number of outlets used.

** Keep in mind the dates the rankings were posted, and in some cases, they may have been submitted to their editors the day before it was posted **
