The Toronto Maple Leafs definitely had a busy offseason. They overhauled their goaltending, added defensive depth, and bolstered their bottom-six while parting ways with several young players. The Leafs made massive changes, especially to their bottom-six, as well as winning the draft lottery and selecting Gavin McKenna.

Key Additions

Sergei Bobrovsky (G) – Signed a three-year, $21 million deal ($7 million AAV) on July 1. The 37-year-old two-time Stanley Cup winner brings veteran stability, a .906 save percentage in 58 games last season with Florida, and playoff experience.

Darren Raddysh (D) – Acquired from Tampa Bay on June 19th in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round pick. The 27-year-old scored 22 goals and 48 assists in 73 games last season, bringing power-play quarterbacking, offensive upside, and top-four minutes.

Nick Paul (LW) – Acquired from Tampa Bay on July 1st in exchange for goaltender Dennis Hildeby, a 2027 fourth-round pick, and a 2028 third. The 31-year-old brings physicality, grit, and middle-six depth, expected to play a third-line role.

Emil Andrae (D) – Acquired from Philadelphia on June 16th in exchange for Joseph Woll and Simon Benoit. The 24-year-old left-shot defenseman brings puck-moving ability and offensive upside.

Jack Roslovic (RW) – Signed a one-year deal on July 1st. The 29-year-old brings two-way play, versatility, and middle-six depth, expected to play a third-line role.

Colton Sissons (C) – Signed a one-year deal on July 1st. The 32-year-old brings physicality, grit, and bottom-six depth.

Teddy Blueger (C) – Signed a one-year deal on July 1st. The 32-year-old brings two-way play, versatility, and middle-six depth.

Brandon Duhaime (LW) – Signed a three-year deal on July 1st. The 29-year-old brings physicality, grit, and bottom-six depth.

Zack MacEwen (RW) – Signed a one-year deal on July 1st. The 30-year-old brings physicality, grit, and bottom-six depth.

Gavin McKenna (LW) – Drafted first overall in the 2026 NHL Draft. The 18-year-old brings elite skill, two-way play, and NHL-ready potential, expected to compete for a top-nine role.

Key Subtractions

Joseph Woll (G) – Traded to Philadelphia on June 16th in the Andrae deal. The 26-year-old had a 2.76 GAA and .894 save percentage in 30 games last season, a significant loss of youth and starter potential.

Dennis Hildeby (G) – Traded to Tampa Bay on July 1st in the Paul deal. The 24-year-old had a .914 save percentage in 20 games last season, a notable loss of youth and depth.

Simon Benoit (D) – Traded to Philadelphia on June 16th in the Andrae deal. The 28-year-old left-shot defenseman had 10 assists in 67 games, removing veteran presence and stability from the third pairing.

Brandon Carlo (D) – Traded to St. Louis on June 27 th for two 2026 third-round picks. The 29-year-old right-shot defenseman had 10 assists in 67 games.

Matias Maccelli (LW) – Departed in free agency. The 25-year-old had 14 goals and 39 points in 71 games, removing veteran depth and scoring from the bottom six.

Nicholas Robertson (LW) – Traded to the Penguins and signed a two-year deal with Pittsburgh on July 14th. The 25-year-old had 16 goals and 16 assists in 78 games, a loss of scoring punch and depth.

Calle Jarnkrok (C) – Signed with European team Brynas IF on August 31. The 34-year-old had 10 goals and 18 points in 68 games, removing veteran depth and two-way play.

Impact on 2026–27

The Maple Leafs’ offseason moves signal a clear push toward competitiveness. Bobrovsky adds elite goaltending and stability, while Raddysh and Andrae bolster the defense. The departures of Woll, Hildeby, and Carlo remove youth and depth. Expect the Maple Leafs to be in the playoff hunt, with a deeper, more balanced lineup pushing for another deep playoff run.
