NHL Rumors: Jets Gauging Interest on Andrew Ladd
Winnipeg Jets gauging trade interest on Andrew Ladd

On the Winnipeg Jets …

  • Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff has been talking to teams the past week about Andrew Ladd to gauge his trade value according to sources.

“The last few games have felt a little weird, still part of the mental battle of not knowing what’s going on,” Ladd told the assembled media in Winnipeg. “To be honest with you, at this point I’m kind of used to it. I’m just trying to enjoy playing hockey.

“The longer it’s gone on, the more I’ve gone with the attitude of what’s going to happen is going to happen now. It’s kind of out of my control. I still want to hopefully to be here a long time but if I’m not, it just wasn’t the plan. You got to deal with that as it comes.”

The Jets haven’t decided if they will give it one more try to re-sign him.

Have to believe the return for Ladd would have to include a first round pick.

The Panthers and Blackhawks are interested. Cap issue is more of worry for Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman than the asking price.

  • Paul Friesen of the Winnipeg Sun: Andrew Ladd knows that last night’s game could be his last home game in Winnipeg.

“We haven’t been told that. But I guess I can kind of see the writing on the wall,” Ladd told reporters this morning. “I obviously hope it’s not. But I realize it has the potential of being my last. And it’s kind of sad to think about.”

GM Kevin Cheveldayoff is faced with the decision of losing Ladd for nothing if they don’t trade him by Monday.

  • Ken Wiebe: Andrew Ladd said he didn’t think there had been much contract negotiations with the Jets since around Christmas.
  • Jason Brough: If the Jets put ever put defenseman Jacob Trouba on the open market, they’d get a lot of calls. The Bruins, Canucks, Oilers, Lightning and Kings would likely be among the teams interested.
