Avs in on Erik Karlsson and Bobby Ryan?
Jonathan Davis: Hearing that the Colorado Avalanche are in on Erik Karlsson and Bobby Ryan talks.
AJ Haefele: Hearing the same thing in Denver. Don’t have any expectations of it getting done, but it is out there.
Adrian Dater: (asked if a first, Cale Makar, J.T. Compher, & Colin Wilson would get Karlsson talks started and if would make the trade?) Not a chance. Avs will continue to draft and develop.
Jesse Montano: “Given what is rumored to be a potential cost on Karlsson, there’s a way the Avs could make it work w/o totally depleting their prospect pipeline. Avs have odd amount of leverage over other teams involved, including the #Sens. Not saying it’s happening, just saying it could work.”
Blue Jackets GM talks trade deadline day …
Brian Hedger of Jackets Insider: Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen when asked if the Derick Brassard trade to the Penguins affected their deadline outlook.
“No, not really. We talk with the general managers all the time, and that’s not just at the deadline. We talk every week or every two weeks. So, we talk regularly about certain players that might be available, might not be available. We know the lay of the land. We know the prices. We know what it would take, so when we actually get closer there might be a little bit more of a push if there’s competition for the same players, and then … you either stay in the race or you drop out if you think the price is too high.”
The Blue Jackets don’t have any cap issues heading into the deadline, but there are “real dollars involved.”
Kekalainen on if he’s okay with standing pat at the deadline.
“Yeah, or maybe there’s something small or whatever. But we’re only making deals to make our team better. We’re not making deals to satisfy somebody who thinks that we should make a deal or is anxious for us to make a deal. We understand and respect the concern of any of the people that care about the Blue Jackets, but we are here to make the right decisions that are going to help the club now and into the future. That’s how we have to operate. We have to make smart decisions for the future of the Blue Jackets and that’s the only criteria that we’re going to look at.”
