  • Eklund on HockeyBuzz: Reported at 3:45 this morning that the NHL made a new offer to the NHLPA that included movement on player contracts from 5 to 6 years, yearly variance from 5% to 10%, with ‘make whole’ remaining at $300 million.
  • Pierre LeBrun via twitter: A player confirms to LeBrun that the NHL did make an offer to the players with movement on term limits, buyouts and variance. Bill Daly would not confirm the offer. The NHL’s offer includes a 6 year contract limit on free agents, 7 years if you are re-signing one of your own. Offer also includes 1 compliance buyout before the 2013-14 season that doesn’t count against the salary cap but counts against the players share. ‘Make whole’ remains at $300 million and variance at 10%. NHL’s offer still calls for a $60 million salary cap for 2013-14, which could lead to an escrow issue for the players.
  • Pierre LeBrun via twitter: There are no meetings schedule just yet between the two sides as the NHLPA needs time to go over the detailed offer.
  • Darren Dreger via twitter: “Hard to imagine the NHL’s latest proposal doesn’t result in potentially season-saving meetings. Players wanted flexibility and they got it.”
