The Chicago Blackhawks have traded center Brandon Pirri to the Florida Panthers for 2014 3rd round pick and a 2016 5th round pick.
The 22-year old Pirri was drafted 59th overall in the 2nd round of the 2009 draft by the Blackhawks. He carries a $618,333 salary cap hit this season.
Renaud Lavoie: Pirri had asked the Blackhawks for a trade a few weeks ago.
Florida Panthers: Pathers GM Dale Tallon.
“Brandon is a young and talented player who we are extremely pleased to have acquired,” said Tallon. “He has experienced tremendous success on the American Hockey League level, being named MVP of the All-Star game and winning the league’s scoring title. Pirri further adds to our depth at center along with Aleksander Barkov, Nick Bjugstad and Drew Shore. We look forward to his contributions to our team.”
