New Jersey Devils: Lou Lamoriello resigns as president of the New Jersey Devils.
“Lou Lamoriello created and defined what it meant to be a New Jersey Devil,” said Harris. “His brilliance in shaping this franchise into one of the most storied and celebrated organizations in sport will make him a New Jersey Devil for life. He represented this organization, our current and former players, the state of New Jersey, and the greatest fans in the National Hockey League in a manner that exemplified character, class, and dignity.
“Lou’s record on the ice speaks for itself and as amazing as it is, it pales in comparison to his record as a human being. His passion, integrity and leadership over the last 28 years impacted the lives of thousands, creating a lasting legacy. I have been honored to have worked with Lou over the last two years and I will forever consider it a privilege.”
Toronto Maple Leafs: Brendan Shannahan announced that Lou Lamoriello has been named the 16th General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
James Mirtle: The Leafs will owe the Devils a third round pick.

Darren Dreger: “Leafs reached out to the Devils weeks ago to officially speak with Lamoriello. Shanahan and Lamoriello closed the deal yesterday.”
Pierre LeBrun: “Vacation thought on Lamoriello hire in Toronto: will be awfully interesting how old school Lou fits in with new school Leafs front office. Having said that, Shanahan, who has always admired Lamoriello’s ways, is a mix of old and new school. That’s what his front office is now.”
Ray Ferraro: “Adds experience to inexperienced group.Remember this isn’t a 1 man band in this structure – irrelevant to me Devils haven’t been good lately.”
Arpon Basu: “Lou Lamoriello appears to be the opposite of everything the Leafs have been doing. Which might be why he was hired.”
Ken Campbell: “Interesting to see a team that has been so cutting edge lately in every other way go old-school with its choice of GM.”
Adam Vingan: “If you weren’t previously convinced that Lou Lamoriello was actually some sort of ninja, this is indisputable proof.”
Travis Hughes: “Yeah, maybe Lou was hired to help mentor Dubas. Just like Jim Rutherford was hired to mentor Botterill. Doesn’t mean Lou won’t have power.”
Ken Campbell: “Lamoriello will be 73 in October. Is he the oldest person ever to take over a new team, in any sport? I can’t think of any older.”
Damien Cox: “Brilliant move by Shanahan and Leafs. What a group they’ve now put together. Impressive.”
Gare Joyce: “Agent I talked this week said he had no idea whom he’d be talking to from one day to next talking a deal, now clear.”
Dean Brown: “The Toronto rumor mill just had the cone of silence dropped on it. Tough times ahead for NHL insiders trying to foretell Leaf moves.”
Platinum Seat Ghosts: “The weirdest thing about this new management and coaching group is they are all on the same level. If this doesn’t work, it’s on everyone.”
Hope Smoke: “How I see it: Shanahan still in charge, Lamoriello provides input which carries same weight as Hunter & Dubas. Pridham takes care of cap”
