Trade Bait List …
- TSN: Potentially on the move: 1. Loui Eriksson 2. Andrew Ladd 3. Mikkel Boedker 4. Jonathan Drouin 5. Dan Hamhuis 6. Kris Russell 7. Roman Polak 8. Eric Staal 9. Dale Weise 10. Jiri Hudler
On the Tampa Bay Lightning …
- Erik Erlendsson: With Jason Garrison out of lineup, it’s becoming more obvious that the Lightning need to upgrade their blueline.
On the Arizona Coyotes …
- Luke Fox of Sportsnet: Coyotes GM Don Maloney was on Arizona Sports 98.7 radio yesterday and said that he’s weighing three options with pending UFA Mikkel Boedker: sign him, trade him by the deadline, or hold on to him for a playoff run.
- Mark Spector thinks the Ducks would be a good fit, but a trade within a division is difficult.
- Other options could be the Blackhawks or Penguins, though the Penguins system is depleted and they may not have a first round pick.
On the Anaheim Ducks, Florida Panthers, Dallas Stars, Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabres …
- Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal: (from last week) Figure the Ducks would prefer to move Sami Vatanen over Hampus Lindholm if they could get a forward.
- There is no-way the Hurricanes are re-signing Eric Staal. The Panthers could use Staal, maybe a second round pick and Brandon Pirri?
- The Stars are not sure if they’ll be able to retain pending UFA Alex Goligoski. They are looking to add another defenseman and they like Canucks Dman Alex Edler, but he has a broken foot. Might have taken Julius Honka and/or Valeri Nichushkin. They could move a young defensemen in Jamie Oleksiak, Patrik Nemeth and Esa Lindell.
- Ladislav Smid might be an option for the Penguins who are looking for a stay at home defenseman. He has a year left at $3.5 million, which could be an issue. The Ducks are trying to trade Clayton Stoner, but he’s at $3.25 million for the next two years.
- Can bet the Sabres are trying to trade struggling Matt Moulson, but he’s basically untradeable with three years left $5 million. He’s likely a buyout candidate.
