On the Montreal Canadiens …
- Louis Jean: “Not suggesting
#Canadiens will trade Subban. Just saying one team confirmed#Habs are “gauging the market”.”
- Chris Nichols: Pierre LeBrun called around yesterday to see if P.K. Subban’s name was out there at all: “I couldn’t find it anywhere.” Subban’s no-movement clause doesn’t kick in until July 1st, LeBrun: “I don’t think Marc Bergevin has any intention of trading P.K. Subban.”
- Luke Fox of Sportsnet: Renaud Lavoie on the Jeff Blair show yesterday morning on P.K. Subban.
“Management has to make a decision. If he’s still with the team after July 1, hopefully those two sides are going to find a way to work with each other,” he said. “I don’t expect P.K. to be traded, to be honest with you.”
- Chris Nichols: Pierre LeBrun: “There are a few teams that have called on Emelin.” Has full no-move, so moot unless he wants out. “I don’t think he does.”
- Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: Thinking that GM Marc Bergevin has already started looking at the long-term approach to fix the Canadiens. The Canadiens need to focus on moving out some rental players, with the bigger decisions waiting for the offseason.
They need get what they can for pending UFAs Dale Weise, Tom Gilbert and Tomas Fleischmann. Paul Byron is a pending UFA, but the Canadiens would like to re-sign him.Source saying a few teams are interested in Alexei Emelin. Emelin has two years left at $4.1 million. Can’t really see him being traded unless he asks for it.
- Chris Nichols: Darren Dreger said that a couple of teams say that Lars Eller “has been available for quite some time now.” Not saying that GM Marc Bergevin is shopping him.
- Habs Links: Darren Dreger on TSN 690 radio: “There would be a significant amount of interest in Max Pacioretty if he’s made available”
- Darren Dreger: “Let’s be clear. This was a very speculative topic and not based in any way on Intel they are considering this…”
- Habs Links: Darren Dreger on Dale Weise: “If he’s legitimately in play, Bergevin’s not going to have a problem moving Dale Weise.”
- Louis Jean: Have been told there is no traction to a Dale Weise contract extension. Unlikely that he signs before the deadline. There are several teams interested.
