On the Calgary Flames …
- Eric Francis of the Calgary Sun: The Flames could be one of the teams that James Reimer could sign with this offseason. Reimer wants it known that he is not looking for as much as $6 million a season as was mentioned in a report coming out of Toronto.
“I don’t even want to dignify it with a response,” said Reimer as his new Sharks teammates chimed in from across the room with shouts of “I heard it was $8 million,” and “I heard it was $10 million.”
“That was definitely untrue.”
The Flames could be looking for two goalies this offseason. They are likely to re-sign Joni Ortio.
Reimer on free agency.
“Totally — I’ve never been through this in my career and it will an interesting experience,” said Reimer, insisting he’ll go into the process with an open mind.
“As far as teams being off the table, not really. You just want an opportunity to play and lead a team. That’s the dream, right?”
The Flames might look to trade market to see what is available. They do have some extra draft picks they could move.
On the New Jersey Devils …
- Rich Chere of NJ.com: Teams likely called the Devils the about pending UFA defenseman David Schlemko at the deadline, but GM Ray Shero decided to hang on to him. Schlemko on if the Devils could be interested in re-signing him.
“That’s something we’ll have to talk about, me and my agent at the end of the year,” Schlemko told NJ Advance Media about re-signing with the Devils. “Any time you look ahead like that it’s not going to affect your play in a good way. I’m just trying to focus on the present right and I’ll let that stuff take care of itself in the offseason. I haven’t put too much stock into next year yet.”
Schlemko on if he could see Lee Stempniak returning to New Jersey in the offseason as a free agent.
“I can see it. Obviously it’s going to be up to him and his family and agent,” Schlemko said. “I know he liked it here. He had a good setup in Hoboken ands he fit in really well with this group. I could see him coming back, but I can’t speak for him.”
