Kevin Paul Dupond: Vesey Sr. would suggest his son NOT to sign with the Bruins in August as there is too much scrutiny and pressure to be a hometown kid playing with the Bruins. Vesey Sr. ”My advice, personally, I’d like to see him start somewhere …as a dad.’
Kevin Paul Dupont: Vesey Sr. said that even though he works for the Maple Leafs as a scout, it won’t impact who his son decides to sign with. Vesey Sr. added that it’s his son’s decision. Dupont notes that it’s possible then that Vesey Jr. signs with the Bruins.

On the Calgary Flames …
Eric Francis of the Calgary Sun: Francis thinks the Flames will re-sign goaltender Joni Ortio, and will have him battle for the backup position. They would need to be given a qualifying offer of $660,000. The Flames would retain his rights even if he didn’t agree with the number. It would be a one-way deal.
GM Brad Treliving’s top priority will be to find a No. 1 goalie. That will cost cap space and maybe some draft picks.
Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan need need contracts, so retaining Ortio on a cheap deal would help them out cap wise.
