Flyers defenseman Radko Gudas was given a five minute major for boarding and a game misconduct for his hit on Rangers forward Jimmy Vesey.
Dave Isaac: “After seeing the Gudas replay several times, I don’t think he gets anything. Vesey turns last second and crouches, which makes it look worse”
Craig Button: “Onus is on Gudas. Until this hit is deemed 100% unacceptable, it won’t stop. #8Games”
Chris Johnston: “The vital part of Gudas major is whether Vescey put himself in vulnerable position. That has kept similar hits from supplemental discipline.”
Nick Kypreos: (on if Gudas should be suspended) “No. Pretty clear example of a player putting himself in a vulnerable position just prior to or simultaneously with the check.”
Damien Cox: “Radko Gudas won’t be punished significantly bc NHL doesn’t punish significantly. And the victim, as always, will be blamed.”
