The Anaheim Ducks and the Vancouver Canucks make a trade

Eric Stephens: The Anaheim Ducks have acquired defenseman Michael Del Zotto from the Vancouver Canucks for defenseman Luke Schenn and a 2020 seventh round pick.

Elliotte Friedman: The Canucks are retaining 25 percent of Del Zotto’s salary.

Patrick Johnston: “Ran into Michael Del Zotto in the hallway. He’s clearly happy about getting a fresh opportunity. Have to imagine that it being in Southern California is a nice bonus, too.”

Scott Cullen: “Michael Del Zotto hasn’t been able to stick in the Vancouver lineup, which says something, but he was relatively effective in his limited action this season. The 28-year-old has had ups and downs in his career, but should have a spot on the Ducks’ third pair.”

Irfaan Gaffar: Canucks defenseman Erik Gudbranson on Del Zotto: “It’s a tough one. He’s such a good dude. I’ve never seen anyone who wasn’t in the lineup work as hard as he did to get back in.”

The Ducks and the Pittsburgh Penguins make a trade

Elliotte Friedman: The Ducks have re-acquired forward Derek Grant from the Pittsburgh Penguins for forward Joseph Blandisi.

Scott Cullen: “Derek Grant has been a fringe NHLer, but did have a career-best season for Anaheim last season, when he had 12 goals and 24 points in 66 games, so he may have a bigger role returning to the Ducks than he had in Pittsburgh this season.”

Wes Crosby: Blandisi: “He had 23 points (8 G, 15 A) in 27 games with San Diego (AHL) this season; Zero points in three games with Anaheim this season.”

Corey Masisak: The Joseph Blandisi Era appears to be over in Anaheim. He played 6 games for the Ducks after arriving from the #NJDevils as the fifth wheel in the Sami Vatanen for Adam Henrique trade (given that Henrique has signed an extension, the teams have also swapped 3rd round picks).

The Ducks and the Minnesota Wild make a trade

Minnesota Wild: The Wild have acquired forward Pontus Aberg from the Ducks for forward Justin Kloos.

Eric Stephens: Aberg had 11 goals for the Ducks this season but had been a healthy scratch the past four games.
