 NHL Injury Updates

Charlie Roumeliotis: Chicago Blackhawks forward Drake Caggiula has been skating on his own for the past four days. He didn’t practice yesterday. Caggiula thinks that he suffered a concussion when he was hit in the jaw with a puck when they played the Maple Leafs.

Mike Chambers: Colorado Avalanche forward Andre Burakovsky likely won’t be traveling with the team.

Ryan S. Clark: Burakovsky is day-to-day with an upper-body injury. He’s out tonight.

Coach Jared Bednar said that forward Mikko Rantanen will return on Saturday.

Edmonton Oilers: Coach Dave Tippett said that forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins will be out this weekend after having a procedure on his hand. He’ll likely be able to return at some point next week.

Murray Pam: Ottawa Senators goaltender Craig Anderson will be eligible to come off the IR on the backend of their back-to-back games next week.

TSN 1200: Senators coach DJ Smith said that Anderson has a lower-body injury.

Forward Tyler Ennis didn’t practice yesterday due to minor bumps and bruises.

Colin Stephenson: New York Rangers defenseman Marc Staal said that he’s progressing and hopes to be ready for next week.

Jim Thomas: The St. Louis Blues have placed forward Oskar Sundqvist in the IR.

Jim Thomas: Blues coach Craig Berube said that Sundqvist is back in St. Louis getting more testing and examinations done to get a full extent of his injury. Berube added that he’ll be out “a while.”

Sundqvist is using crutches and his right foot is in a walking boot.

Curtis Pashelka: San Jose Sharks forward Tomas Hertl practiced in a no-contact jersey yesterday. He’s likely doubtful for tonight.

Tarik El-Bashir: Washington Capitals forward Nicklas Backstrom practiced in a no-contact jersey.

If he doesn’t suffer any setbacks he could return to the lineup at some point on their road trip which gets underway on Saturday against the Red Wings.
