Canadiens and Flames pull off trade involving Cammalleri and Bourque

The Montreal Canadiens have traded Mike Cammalleri, Karri Ramo and a 2012 5th round pick for Rene Bourque, Patrick Holland and a 2013 2nd round pick.

Gus Katsaros via twitter: Canadiens “sacrifice some skill for work ethic & multi-dimensional contribution in Bourque than just goals .. versatile, shuffles through lineup.”

Pierre LeBrun via twitter: One GM said he wished he knew that Cammalleri was available, would have made an offer.

Pierre LeBrun via twitter: On the upside for the Canadiens, they clear some cap space. Bourque is a $3.3 million cap hit compared to Cammalleri’s $6 million hit.

James Duthie via twitter: Canadiens GM Pierre Gauthier: “We need to score the hard goals…not the fancy goals…Bourque scores most of his goals from the hard areas.”

Pierre LeBrun via twitter: Flames GM Jay Feaster: “It’s been percolating for quite some time, we’ve been having a lot of conversations.”
