In an impressive display of skill and teamwork, the Vancouver Canucks triumphed over the Anaheim Ducks with a decisive 5-1 victory at the Honda Center. Quinn Hughes shone brightly, notching three key assists, marking his milestone 300th in the NHL.

This achievement places Hughes as the fastest Canucks player to reach this feat and among the top in NHL history.

Meanwhile, Brock Boeser added to the action, netting both a goal and an assist, contributing to Vancouver’s strong run of six wins out of their last eight games. Despite a tough battle, Anaheim’s goalkeeper, Lucas Dostal, made a commendable 32 saves.

Hughes Reflects on Milestone

After reaching a personal milestone of 300 assists, Quinn Hughes was thrilled and shared how much his teammates and friends have supported him along the way.

He’s optimistic about keeping up the significant momentum. On the ice, Hughes wasn’t the only standout. Brock Boeser, Kiefer Sherwood, and Danton Heinen each found the net, while Kevin Lankinen was solid in goal for the Canucks, who have been dominating lately with six wins in their last eight games.

Coach Rick Tocchet praised the team’s north-south style, noting their puck control was key to their win. Even though the Ducks started strong with a power-play goal from Olen Zellweger, they couldn’t hold their lead.

Despite three straight losses, Zellweger was impressive, fearless, and driven to win, reflecting Coach Greg Cronin’s admiration for his energy and skill.

Canucks Ignite Power Play

The Canucks put on a powerful performance against the Ducks, turning their second-period power play into a game-changer. It started with Brock Boeser redirecting a slick pass from Quinn Hughes to even the score.

Moments later, Kiefer Sherwood capitalized on a rush with a swift pass from Erik Brannstrom, putting Vancouver ahead. Elias Pettersson extended the lead, skillfully tipping in another slap shot from Hughes early in the second period.

As the game progressed, Jake DeBrusk sealed the deal with a commanding goal, assisted by Hughes, highlighting his milestone of 300 NHL assists. Although the Ducks showed spirit, they couldn’t match the Canucks’ tempo.

Ducks Struggle in D-Zone

Danton Heinen scored close to the goal line, sealing a 5-1 win for the Canucks against the Ducks. This victory was marked by commanding play throughout as the Canucks continued their winning streak over Anaheim. The Ducks struggled to keep up, especially in the second period.

Captain Radko Gudas mentioned that the team veered off its plan, which prevented quick, effective shifts and left it stuck in its defensive zone, affecting its flow into the final period.

Quinn Hughes, who impressively reached his 300th assist faster than most, continued to shine consistently. Hughes has been prolific this season, showcasing his playmaking skills with numerous points.

Additionally, Vancouver has been benefiting from a strong record against Anaheim lately. On the Ducks’ side, Troy Terry contributed and assisted in the game, maintaining his recent scoring momentum.
