Friedman: “I’m keeping an eye on Buffalo. You know, they’re gonna have an interesting decision to make with Alex Tuch. I think, what I’ve heard about the Sabres is they’re not going to make their team worse.”

Kyle Bukauskas: “Oh, you can’t.”
Friedman: “Yeah, you can’t.
Bukauskas: “After all this, you can’t.”
Friedman: “I’ll say this, like that’s a team with a lot of picks and prospects. Unless you get a ridiculous offer, I’m, I’m keeping him right now.
I mean, you’ve got two weeks out of the Olympics to see if it changes. But if I own the Sabres, I’d be like, if it’s continues this way, he’s our own rental. We’re going for it. And I’ve heard they’ve told people we’re not making our team worse.”
Vincent Trocheck is the top trade target now
Snark Messier: Frank Seravalli on Frankly Hockey on Vincent Trocheck being the top commodity ahead of the March 6th NHL trade deadline.
John Buccigross: “And let’s take a look at your latest trade target list, because right at the very top there, we see a New York Ranger in Vincent Trocheck. Now again, that return should be better, because there’ll be multiple teams who would love to add a player like him.”
Seravalli: “Yeah, he’s a very hot commodity because, well, just watch him at the Olympics for Team USA. He’s incredibly versatile. He plays big minutes. Plays above his size, like he plays meaner and bigger.
And he can play anywhere in your lineup with that versatility, but then throw in the productivity. Not far off from a point per game, 36 points in 42 games. And then add in the cost certainty of a very reasonable contract for the next few years. That really lines up at a thin center market.
This is the guy. And with all due respect to Nazem Kadri, who we’ll talk about in a second, or perhaps even Elias Pettersson. Vincent Trocheck is a very known commodity. There’s no questions, like with Pettersson of, what are we getting here?
NHL Rumors: Calgary Flames and Minnesota Wild
You know exactly what you’re getting, and you know where to plug them in into your lineup. And that is why the Rangers have the premier piece, as I view it, on this market.”
