The Dallas Stars are an intriguing team to watch
Daily Faceoff: Jeff Marek talking about the Dallas Stars are a team to watch. Do they do some one-stop shopping in Calgary? And the Jason Robertson, pending UFA, still lingers. He’s likely not going to be traded at the deadline.

Tyler Yaremchuk: “If we’re sitting there on Friday doing our show, and we’re going to be stunned, like, truly stunned, jaw on the floor. Is there one situation you’re watching? Obviously, the Spitting Chicklets guys have their Brady Tkachuk and Jason Robertson thing. And, like, that’s my fate as a kid was, like, really good speculation.
But like, to be fair, I was chatting with Brent Wallace earlier this morning on another one of our shows here in Edmonton, and he brought it up. I didn’t even ask. He said, like, oh, this Brady Tlachuck thing isn’t a nothing burger story here in Ottawa. Like, could, is it Tkachuk that could be the stunner? Is there another situation you’re looking at somewhere that it’s like, maybe it’s only a 25% chance, but like I’m watching it?
Jeff Marek: “I always, I’m always curious about (Dallas Stars GM) Jim Nill this time of year. One, because he’s not shy about the blockbuster, as we saw with, with Mikko Rantanen. And no one loves him, a depth defenseman more, more than Jim Nill. So I think it’d be, it could be a combination of both.
And listen, the expectation from ownership is, get to the Stanley Cup right, and when that’s your mandate, and they have the Tyler Seguin money to play with, now. If we’re looking for a team to make the big the massive splash here. Like, could you see Jim Nill, do all of his shopping in Calgary? Like, you take, you get your basket, and you go to one grocery store. Like Jim Nill could get what he wants from one team. Does he do it or does it get does it get spread out?
And man, the Robertson question. Listen, I know, I know I gotten a lot of, got a lot of heat last, last summer I think it was when I put it out there. That don’t be surprised if, you know they, can’t come to an agreement with with Jason Robertson, and he might hit the market.
And here we are. We’ve gone through the whole season worth of negotiations between Jason Robertson and the Dallas Stars, and still there’s no deal. Now I don’t know that he gets, and I don’t think that he gets moved at trade deadline.
Like, who knows? Like, I think he wants, it sounds like he wants something closer to Rantanen money ($12 million), and I think that the Dallas Stars are closer to the $10 million number. But if the Dallas Stars win the Stanley Cup, he probably, and he’s the Conn Smyth Trophy winner, which he could be, he probably gets that contract.

So I still do think that they keep him. After that though, if they don’t win the Stanley Cup, I think all bets are off. But the Robertson story is still hot, and I think the Dallas Stars are too.
This is another go for a year for Dallas. And I wonder who, I wonder, who acts first in the Central because all three are going to make moves. Colorado is going to make a move. Minnesota is going to make a move. Dallas is going to make a move. Who goes first? ”
