Teams will circle back on Robert Thomas

Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic: Believe the Utah Mammoth will circle back to the St. Louis Blues and Robert Thomas. The Montreal Canadiens will likely want to keep tabs as well, in case the price drops. They don’t want to include Michael Hage. The Seattle Kraken, Boston Bruins, and Detroit Red Wings would like to add Thomas, but not at the original asking price. Thomas does carry a full no-movement clause, so he’ll have the final say.

TSN: Darren Dreger said that the Buffalo Sabres and St. Louis Blues went down the road on trade talks involving Robert Thomas, but the Sabres just couldn’t do it.

“But at the end of the day, it sounded like it came down to four significant pieces, including a roster player off of the Sabres, that Buffalo just couldn’t come to terms with.

NHL News: MacKenzie Weegar, Jason Dickinson, and Andrew Mangiapane

So, we’re not closing the door entirely, and as we’ve said before here, be mindful of the fact that Thomas is a good player in St. Louis. He’s a young player on a long-term contract, so they’re not in a hurry to get rid of him. Armstrong has been fishing for a big haul, and Buffalo just wasn’t willing to provide that.”

The Montreal Canadiens will monitor Nazem Kadri, with the Colorado Avalanche needing Calgary to retain

Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic: The Montreal Canadiens will monitor where things are with Calgary Flames center Nazem Kadri, and they’ve likely checked in on New York Rangers center Vincent Trocheck. If the Canadiens found a top-six forward at an okay price point, they could pull the trigger.

The Flames would need to retain salary to work out a deal for the Colorado Avalanche. The Avs may not be the only team that would want the Flames to retain some of Kadri’s $7 million per year for three years.

Conor Garland may be more of an offseason trade

Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic: Vancouver Canucks forward Conor Garland may be more of an offseason trade as opposed to in-season. The Washington Capitals, Boston Bruins, New York Islanders, and the New Jersey Devils would be among the teams to watch.

TSN: Darren Dreger said that Conor Garland is drawing a lot of interest, and some had been thinking on Tuesday that he might have moved then.

“Sources out of Vancouver say that it’s not done yet. We know that there’s interest from the Boston Bruins and the New York Islanders, and there’d be other interest in Garland as well.”
