The projected 2028-29 salary cap

Allan Walsh: “Analyzing NHL HRR projections and the current revenue slack that exists in the system, hearing the NHL is projecting a Salary Cap Upper Limit of approx $123M in 2028-29. We are currently at $95.5M. (That’s an almost $30M rise of the Cap within 3 years).”

NHL Injury Notes

Flames Nation: Calgary Flames defenseman Zach Whitecloud missed last night’s game with an upper-body injury that he suffered on Saturday night. He’s not with the team.

Dan Greenspan: Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Dante Fabbro returned to the lineup after missing the past two games with a lower-body injury. Defenseman Erik Gudbranson left last night’s game in the first period with an upper-body injury. He won’t be travelling with the team on their three-game road trip.

George Richards: Florida Panthers forward Brad Marchand is dealing with a lingering lower-body injury, and they’ll decide in the next few days if he’ll have surgery, according to coach Paul Maurice.

“There’s going to be a decision made on what’s the best way to get him to 100 percent full health. I think even if there isn’t , we’re still talking long-term; like, this isn’t going to be a couple of days. We’re into weeks.

“… He has been dealing with something for a couple of months, we have been able to maintain it.”

Panthers defenseman Seth Jones practiced in a regular jersey on Monday. He broke his collarbone on January 2nd after being hit by the deflected puck. He’s been cleared for contact, but is not medically cleared.

Montreal Canadiens: Forward Oliver Kapanen was given a maintenance day yesterday.

Jackson Starr: Ottawa Senators coach Travis Green said that defenseman Jake Sanderson is out week-to-week with an upper-body injury.

Adam Kimelman: Philadelphia Flyers forward Travis Konecny returned to the lineup after missing the past three games with an upper-body injury.
