Afternoon Notes: Subban, Liles, Gretzky, TSN, Lundqvist, Lehner and Peters
  • Louis Jean: There is nothing imminent with the Canadiens and P.K. Subban. Things can obviously change quickly, but it’s looking like it could take a couple more days.
  • Hope Smoke: Claude Loiselle:  “Liles is the best defenseman outside of the NHL right now. At this point there is no way to fit him into our roster”
  • Hope Smoke: Darren Dreger: “Belief is that MLSE want Gretzky as an ambassador. More than a token position. They are very happy with Nonis’ job.”
  • YYZ Sports Media:  James Duthie, Darren Dreger and Bob McKenzie all signed new long-term deals with TSN.
  • Eric Macramalla: If the Rangers were to buyout the final year of  Henrik Lundqvist’s new contract, it would cost them only $2,833,333.
  • Don Brennan: Robin Lehner will start in net for the Senators.
