Bettman … Bouwmeester trade rumors … A Seguin deal could be similar to Skinner’s … Quick surgery … Preds-Fisher near extension
  • Arthur Staple via twitter: Gary Bettman: “We reiterated to the union that the owners will not play another year under the current agreement.”
  • Wes Gilbertson of the Calgary Sun: MLive reported that the Red Wings are interested in Jay Bouwmeester. The Blues have been linked to Bouwmeester earlier this summer, same with the Flyers. The Predators have also been rumored to have interest in Bouwmeester. Bouwmeester will earn $6.68 million for 2 more years and has a no trade clause. The Flames would be crazy not to get a quality return if they moved him. They don’t need to trade him unless they get what they want. He averaged 25:57 minutes per game last year, 6th overall.
  • Joe Haggerty of CSNNE: Tyler Seguin’s 2nd contract could be similar to the 6 year, $34.35 million contract that Jeff Skinner just signed with the Hurricanes. If Seguin signed a similar deal, he’d be their highest paid forward. Boston could go for a shorter deal, but it would likely cost more money. Seguin has 89 points in 155 games over the past 2 years. Skinner has 107 points in 146 games.
  • Matias Strozyk via twitter: Dominik Hasek is still without the 2 year NHL deal he wanted and is now practicing with Extraliga Pardubice.
