Canadiens trade Cole to Stars for Ryder and a pick

The Dallas Stars have traded winger Michael Ryder and a 2013 3rd round pick to the Montreal Canadiens for winger Erik Cole.

Cole scored a career high 35 goals last season for the Canadiens. He chipped in with 26 assists for 61 points. The 34-year old was off to a slower start this year as he’s only scored 3 goals and 3 assists in 19 games.

The 32-year old Ryder has scored 6 goals and added 8 assists for 14 points in 19 games.

Cole has 2 years left on his deal after this season and carries a salary cap hit of $4.5 million. Ryder will be a UFA at the end of the year and has a $3.5 million cap hit.
