  • Bob McKenzie via twitter: “I’d guess “something” is coming from NHLPA tomorrow but I wouldn’t necessarily term it “proposal.” Perhaps “something” for NHL to consider.” … “Whatever “something” is or isn’t, it was discussed in detail on today’s 90-minute NHLPA negotiating committee conference call.” … “If it “registers’ with NHL, great, may be step towards traction. If not, NHLPA can tell 300+ players meeting in NYC it tried, it made a move.”
  • Kevin Allen of the USA Today: As many as 300 NHLPA members could show up for today’s and Thursday’s meeting in New York.

    “If players have questions about what’s told to them, or about what happens going forward, it’s paramount that those questions get asked,” said Hainsey, a member of the NHLPA bargaining team.

    “The NHLPA is a different organization today than it was previously,” said player agent Allan Walsh. “After the Saskin and Kelly disasters, the union was reconstituted by Fehr from the ground up. The culture of the (NHLPA) today is based on openness, transparency and communication with a goal of serving the membership. The players have reconnected and are working together in ways I never thought was possible.”

  • Dmitry Chesnokov of Yahoo! Sports: Chesnokov lists some of the KHL guidelines to signing NHL players during the lockout. Players must meet at least one of the criteria:Must have played no less than

    – 150 games in the NHL in the last three seasons;- Must have had experience playing in the KHL;

    – Must be a member of the national team of his country at one of the last two IIHF World Championships, World Junior Championships or the Olympic games;

    – Must be a winner or the finalist of the Stanley Cup or the winner of one of the individual prizes awarded by the National Hockey League at the end of the season.

  • Aaron Portzline via twitter: The NHL has told teams that the NHL-CHL agreement allows teams to recall players from Junior if/when lockout ends. Blue Jackets 1st round pick Ryan Murray can go to Everett of the WHL and recalled by the Blue Jackets when the new CBA is in place.
  • Michael Russo via twitter: If there is no CBA by the weekend, the Wild will re-assign most of their entry level guys to Houston of the AHL, except for Jared Spurgeon who would require waivers.
  • Aaron Portzline via twitter: The NHL and NHLPA have agreed to a waiver window from now until midnight on Saturday so that minor league veterans can be cleared and sent to the minors. When the lockout is over, the none entry-level, 2-way guys can be recalled without having to go through waivers.
