Daniel Cleary Goes Back to Detroit
  • Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press: Daniel Cleary will sign with the Red Wings(1 year, $1.75 million). Cleary had previously rejected Red Wings offers of two-years worth about $4.5 million and a three-year deal worth just under $6 million.
  • Sam Carchidi: Signs pointing to Daniel Cleary using the Flyers as leverage to get a deal with the Red Wings.
  • Elliotte Friedman: The NHL didn’t have an issue with the PTO and reported contract with the Flyers.
  • Pierre LeBrun: “Bottom line here with Dan Cleary is that he had second thoughts after agreeing to PTO with Flyers. Met with Holland/Babcock yesterday.”
  • Sarah Baicker: Flyers GM Paul Holmgren knew beforehand that Cleary wanted to stay with the Red Wings. Said his opinion of Cleary is still high, if not higher.
