Flyers won’t buyout Bryzgalov, not so fast and where Bernier may fit
  • John Shannon: Shannon had an email conversation with Ilya Bryzgalov’s agent, Ritch Winter, who confirmed that the Flyers have told him that they won’t be buying out Bryzgalov.
  • Tim Panaccio: Flyers GM Paul Holmgren to CSN: “I didn’t assure Ritch Winter of anything. When the time comes to do our business we will do whatever is best for our hockey team.
  • David Pagnotta: Holmgren told Winter (after both of the above comments were made public) that his comments were fair based on the earlier conversations they had.
  • David Pagnotta: If the Flyers don’t buyout Brygalov, they’ll be out of the Jonathan Bernier race. Reported around the trade deadline that Bernier and Matt Read were the centerpieces of trade talks between the two teams. The Flames, Leafs, Devils and Wild could be in the mix.
  • David Pagnotta: Pagnotta thinks that the Flames could pursue Bernier.
  • Sarah Baicker: With many teams interested in Bernier, he’ll want to go somewhere that the starter’s job in guaranteed. The Flyers can’t offer that as he’d have to split time with Steve Mason. Odds lessen that he’ll end up in Philadelphia.
  • B.D. Gallof: Bernier is still a prospect. He might be a little more developed than some of the Islanders prospects, but can’t lose sight of that.
