  • The Fourth Period: The Coyotes could be looking to increase their payroll with their new ownership.

“There’s a working budget that’s been given to me that I need to work with,” Coyotes GM Don Maloney told the Arizona Republic. “But if there’s an opportunity — and opportunities do present themselves during the course of a hockey season — it may cost us a little more, but at least I have that ability to go to them and walk them through it, and if I can convince them it makes sense to spend more, then the resources are there.”

The Coyotes still won’t be among the top spenders though.

“There is no question that we would love to be able to spend the way top market teams do,” Coyotes Alternate Governor Anthony LeBlanc told the Republic. “That is just not a reality in this market at this particular time.”
