Free Agent Hits: Franson signs, Thomas and Theodore
  • Darren Dreger: Maple Leafs and Cody Franson agree on a one-year, $2 million deal. The Leafs wanted a two-year to avoid arbitration next year, but told Franson’s camp that they would got to one-year at $2 million or less.
  • Darren Dreger: With Tim Thomas likely playing today, a contract could be close with the Panthers.
  • Harvey Fialkov: Jose Theodore has a KHL offer but likely holding out for an NHL deal.
  • Jim Diamond of the Examiner: Francois Gagnon of the RDS reported that the Predators are among the teams interested in Theodore. Gagnon said that the Predators, Penguins and Sharks have shown interest “in recent weeks.”
